The Sons

We are three generations who have taken over from our fathers. Throughout this time, we have conducted business and pursued purpose-driven goals based on our values and a shared understanding of the world around us and how to navigate in it.

Christian Ree Sr.

Christian Ree was born in 1913. After a period as a very successful race cycler winning two national championships in sprint and living in Paris for some time to compete in bicycle races there, Christian Ree in the early 1930’s took over the industrial laundry, Sortevit, which his father had established. Christian Ree managed to grow the business significantly through hard times, including the war, and also took steps to diverge into industrial and residential real estate. In 1966, Christian sold the business to his son, Karsten.

Karsten Ree

Karsten didn’t fancy school much. Instead, he loved to hang out at Sortevit’s garage, where three mechanics looked after the constantly growing fleet of delivery trucks. This eventually took him into race car driving, and to winning Danish and Nordic championships. After he served in the army, he joined his father, growing Sortevit. In 1981, after having sold Sortevit and working within real estate, Karsten joined the recently established Den Blå Avis and grew and developed this business in Denmark and Germany until he sold it to eBay in 2008. Since then, Karsten has conducted a series of investments and began developing Ree Office’s current portfolio of private equity investments as well as our purpose-driven activities.
